This Lookout Mountain home, with its beautiful Country French architecture, needed a landscape with more structural evergreen to frame its foundations. We achieved this by adding a variety of evergreen shrubs and espaliered fruit trees against the blank walls, creating a classic, old-world cottage feel. The rambling rose “Peggy Martin” was also incorporated to the design to enhance this charming aesthetic.

High-Impact Blooms and Year-Round Interest

To ensure vibrant color and visual appeal throughout the year, we planted a selection of high-impact blooming shrubs. This included Drift Roses, “Encore” reblooming Azaleas, and a variety of Hydrangea species. For year-round interest, we utilized River Birch trees, which are known for their amazing color and exfoliating bark.

Creating a Secluded Oasis

To address the “boxed-in” feeling of the property, we designed and installed large perimeter borders along the property lines and backyard fencing. This created a sense of depth and seclusion. To visually block a nearby power station, we strategically planted Cryptomeria and Vitex trees, providing an effective and beautiful natural screen.
